Core announces competition winners

Core’s Research Awards Committee allocate £400,000 towards wide reaching and outstanding research projects.

Following a rigorous application and review process, Core is delighted to announce seven successful grant applicants.

In conjunction with the Ileostomy and Internal Pouch Support Group, Core has awarded a three year fellowship to Mr Phil Tozer, Imperial College London, who is investigating Crohn's Disease. A two year fellowship funded by the Nutritional Research Foundation and Core was awarded to Dr Richard Johnston, Wolfsdon Digestive Diseases Centre, who is seeking to identify nutritional strategies to treat liver disease.                

The Belmont Trust Award was allocated to Dr Germaine Caldwell, University of Birmingham, towards her research on Ulcerative Colitis. A further four one year grants, ranging from £12,800 to £25,000, were awarded to world class researchers exploring gut diseases.

We received funding applications from a number of high quality projects and we continue to strive towards raising more funds to further support necessary gastroenterology research.
