The London Marathon has the reputation of being the best Marathon in the world. The support from the crowds and the atmosphere is amazing making the demand for places extremely high.

Congratulations to our London Marathon runners Marcus and Emma! The day was fantastic – well done for finishing the 26.2 miles!

Chronic gut conditions: Patient Experience & Medical Response

Public Information Event

London ExCel 22nd November 2009



Members of the public are invited to attend a public information event at Gastro 2009 - the first joint international gastroenterology conference to be held in London this November.

Chaired by medical broadcaster and journalist, Dr. Mark Porter, this informative event will offer the opportunity to hear from world renowned experts on the latest medical opinion and research, diagnosis and management and how to live with, and take control of, chronic gut conditions.

Supported by the National Association for Colitis and Crohn’s Disease (NACC), Coeliac UK and the Gut Trust, the programme is as follows:

13:30 - Registration

14:00 - Welcome address by Professor Colm O’Morain (Chairman of the United European Gastroenterology Federation Public Affairs Committee)

14:05 - Introduction by Dr. Mark Porter

14:10 - Presentation on Coeliac disease by Professor Chris Mulder (European Society for the Study of Coeliac Disease and Honorary member of the South African Gastroenterology Society) followed by audience and panel discussion

14:40 - Presentation on Irritable Bowel Syndrome by Prof. Eamonn Quigley (President of World Gastroenterology Organisation and Vice President of the American College of Gastroenterology) followed by audience and panel discussion

15:10 - Presentation on Inflammatory Bowel Disease by Prof. Chris Hawkey (President of the British Society of Gastroenterology) followed by audience and panel discussion

15:40 - Panel summary

15:50 - Refreshments and information display

16:20 – 17:20 Individual IBS, IBD and Coeliac Disease seminars (to be hosted by patient organisations)
