You can support people affected by digestive disorders by making a regular contribution through your payroll Payroll Giving is: - A tax efficient way of giving to any charity, church, or charitable organisation such as a village hall or Parent Teacher Association
- Beneficial to you as an employee since the donation is deducted from gross pay before the calculation of tax
- Beneficial to the charity as it will receive the tax that would have been sent to the Chancellor of the Exchequer had you made the donation in any other way.
- If you are a basic rate taxpayer, a £5 per month donation will only cost you £4 from your net pay and if you are a higher rate taxpayer, the cost will be £3 per month
For you to be able to donate through Payroll Giving, your employer must have signed a contract with a Payroll Giving Agency
To set up a Payroll Giving scheme is easy
Employers must sign a contract with a Payroll Giving Agency (PGA) then deduct the donations from gross pay (does not affect NI contributions) each pay day and send the donations plus a list of the donors to the contracted PGA – simple. It takes about 20 minutes to set up the payroll software although most modern payroll software has this facility in built. More details can be obtained from your selected PGA.
